I wanted to write down some of my thought about the events of the day.

First - I feel awful about the people who have died today. As well as the people who have seen things that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. These people were are not world leaders. They are just innocent people like you and me.

Second - it is unbelievable to me that with all the communication technology we have today, it is still seemingly impossible to know what happened three blocks away. Everybody is reporting something different and that lack of knowledge about what is going on makes me nervous.

Third - People (Londoners) have known for a long time that something like this was going to happen. ...but it certainly caught me by surprise. Almost like I expected it - just not today.

I say this is expected because the view here is that we shouldn't be in Iraq or Afghanistan. We are killing innocent people over there. It is a matter of time before people get pissed off about that and come to kill us. ...of course now THEY have killed innocent people so we will be more committed to the war in Iraq. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

I really don't understand why this is such a difficult concept to understand. If someone killed your family - would you be willing to just let it go, or would you want vengeance? Would you expect a Iraqi to be any different? What the fuck are we doing in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Finally - It is scary how much this feels like 9-11. I know the "scale" is not there, but the confusion is. It feels like you are under attack. I can't imagine what soldiers must feel like.
